Premier League preview

The battle for Premier League survival is on!

Whilst everybody seems to be obsessed with the Premier League title, let's not forget about the other fight in the Premier League. Will Manchester City win the title, will it be Liverpool? Chelsea perhaps, and are Arsenal really out the race? Frankly, there is a far more interesting battle going on at the foot of the table, in the fight for relegation. If you're a keen sports bettor, particularly on football games, this one's going to be tasty!

Firstly, let's look at the obvious candidates. Namely, they are Fulham, Cardiff and Sunderland. None of these are particularly brilliant payers, at least with the bookies, as most are dead certs to be involved in the drop on the final day of the season.

Fulham?

Fulham have one of the easier run-ins, with matches against Aston Villa, Norwich, Hull City, Stoke City and Crystal Palace, all games they could pull something out of. It is unlikely that they will beat Tottenham Hotspur away. All in all then, they may very well avoid relegation, despite being 1.14 to drop into the Championship next season.

Cardiff or Sunderland?

Cardiff and Sunderland are another matter. Cardiff City meet Crystal Palace, Southampton, Stoke City, Sunderland, Newcastle and Chelsea in their final six matches. You wouldn't fancy them to get results in most of those matches, so at 1.28 odds to go down, you could pick up some small winnings. Sunderland on the other hand, face a near impossible fixture list, with trips away to Spurs, Man City, Chelsea, Man United and a home game against Everton. Survival you would say, is virtually impossible, which makes them a great bet at odds of 1.44 to go down.

West Brom or Norwich?

And what of the other less likely contenders in the dog-fight? Everygame has West Bromwich Albion to go down at odds of 3.75, whilst Norwich City are offered at 4.00. West Brom must face Spurs at home, as well as City and Arsenal away in their run-in, which is not pleasant by any means. They could very well be for the chop, so are well worth a bet. Norwich City on the other hand, must face Liverpool at home, United and Chelsea away, before ending the season at home to Arsenal. They aren't expected to win any of their final three fixtures, which could be a crucial time for them. Everygame's odds on Norwich going down are well worth taking.

Crystal Palace, Hull, Swansea, Aston Villa or West Ham?

Elsewhere at Everygame, Crystal Palace are at 4.33, and Hull City are 19.00 to go down. Far more unlikely is Swansea City, Aston Villa and West Ham United's chances of relegation. If any of these did suffer the drop though, Everygame would pay out odds of 41.00, 51.00 and 81.00, respectively.

Crystal Palace are 5 points above the drop-zone with a game in hand, whilst the Hammers are a good 11 points clear. Most have moderate run-ins, save for West Ham, who must face Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City in their final games, as well as fellow-battlers West Brom, Crystal Palace and Sunderland. There are no easy games for Sam Allardyce's men, so if you want an outside bet that pays great, the £81 you could pick up for just a £1 bet on West Ham to be relegated at Everygame, is certainly worth a shot!
