Premier League preview

A double header of Premiership games comes your way.

Last weekend some real thrills and spills were provided on the pitch in the Barclays Premier League.

This week, many of the title chasing clubs will be hoping for a slight dash of normality to the outcomes of fixtures. Whatever happens on the pitch, the good news for football betting fans is that there is a double header of games coming up, with matches taking place on Saturday and Sunday the 22nd and 23rd of March, and Tuesday and Wednesday, the 25th and 26th of March, respectively.

First up a super Saturday crunch game between Chelsea and Arsenal. This London derby is vitally important, as both clubs are going for the title. Chelsea are top of the table, although both Liverpool and Man City have games in hand against them. At home, you would fancy Jose Mourinho and his men to nick the win against a misfiring Mesut Özil and an underperforming Arsenal. Chelsea are 2.00 to make this happen, and Arsenal win is a long shot at 3.60.

Another interesting feature on the Saturday is West Ham United versus Manchester United. United performed woefully against Liverpool on Sunday, and with a little help from referee Mark Clattenburg, they found themselves well off the pace for even a Europa League spot. United will be hoping for redemption at Upton Park. Failure to take three points could see Moyes' reign come one step closer to ending. United will be favourites, and should get the three points, and are at 1.75 to pick up the win.

Sunday's really interesting game comes as Southampton play away to Tottenham. Spurs are also gunning for a Europa League spot, although Southampton are keen to finish on a high. An away win for the Saints would pay-out nicely, with odds of 3.60 for this to occur. It's also quite possible that the result could go their way.

The mid-week games are dominated by the Manchester derby as title chasing Manchester City host under-par Manchester United. It doesn't really matter if United pick up the points against West Ham, because you'd be a fool not to back City to win this. The game is at Old Trafford, but that has hardly been a fortress this season for the Red Devils. City are 2.10 favourites to win, with United an exciting 3.40. Should United fail to win against West Ham on the Saturday you can expect these odds to extend ever higher. It would be the shock of the season if they won, and what a pay-out you might get.

Finally, if you really are a betting man (or woman), Sunderland to beat Liverpool offers some of the biggest odds of the fortnight. Sunderland to win away at Anfield would see odds of 13.00 paid out. It isn't likely, but if you're after a major win, this is the only one that really offers you a somewhat decent chance of a return. A draw is a possibility, paying odds of 6.50 for that eventuality.
