Moyes out: Who will the next manager be?

Sir Alex Ferguson may have told Manchester United fans to stand by their new manager. However, when results have been as bad as they have for the Red Devils, and United are confirmed to have their worst ever finish in nearly 25 years, the inevitable occurred. David Moyes was sacked this week, and Ryan Giggs was named the new interim manager at Old Trafford. But the big question amongst sports betting fans is, who will succeed Moyes to the Man United hot-seat?

Names are flying around all over the internet, and Man United will not be announcing their decision for the next few weeks at least. Everygame has been hard at work coming up with the most likely candidates, so who's a realistic target then?

The Next Permanent Manager odds at Everygame are already heating up, and at the moment, Louis Van Gaal is the favourite. The Dutchman has already proven himself in world football, having won leagues in Germany with Bayern Munchen, Spain with Barcelona and Holland with Ajax. Currently in charge of the Netherlands for the FIFA World Cup, Van Gaal is leaving his post after the tournament, and would not only be free, but also a highly skilled manager to take over the job. Van Gaal's commitment to the Netherlands though, may actually harm his chances as he wouldn't be available until latest July 13. Currently he is the 1.66 favourite at Everygame.

Also in the running is Ryan Giggs. The United legend is currently the interim manager, though he could end up as permanent manager if United feel as though a local hero could be the way to go. It is unlikely though, and Giggs is 23.00 on for the job and has never held a managerial position before. Right behind him in terms of odds is Jurgen Klopp, although he only recently signed a contract extension at his current club (Borussia Dortmund), so it seems unlikely. This is especially true after Dortmund moved swiftly this week to deny Klopp's availability. Klopp's sides do have pace and an attacking ethos that would suit United well, though. Jurgen Klopp is 21.00 to become the next manager.

So, who else in the running? Jose Mourinho almost nailed the job last year, before he returned to Chelsea and the job went to Moyes. If United could convince Mourinho to join their side now, you could pick up a win of 11.00. Mourinho has an issue with Juan Mata though, and it seems unlikely not only that Mourinho would leave Chelsea, but also that United would allow the manager to join them, given his issues playing the recently acquired £30m signing.

Diego Simeone has had a superb debut season at Atletico Madrid, and if Simeone was to join, you could land 26.00. This too seems unlikely, though. Other managers up for the job include Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid at 7.00, former manager Sir Alex Ferguson at 41.00, former assistant Carlos Queiroz at 41.00, and Pep Guardiola at 34.00.

If you fancy a serious outside bet, Frank Rijkaard, Steve Bruce, Zinedine Zidane, and Joachim Low are worth 67.00 odds, and Cesare Prandelli is worth an 81.00 bet. These bets are simply ludicrous, though. Whoever does get the job, surely they can't do any worse than Moyes. Over the next month, the betting is going to be rich, and Everygame will be covering it all, every step of the way.
