Barcelona vs PSG match preview

This is the last game of the group stages between Barcelona and PSG. The match will take place at the stadium Camp Nou on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 20:45 CET.

Although both teams have already qualified for the last 16, the stakes are high since both sides are trying their best to win the group.

PSG, who have a one point advantage, will top the group if they manage a draw at Camp Nou. So Luis Enrique's Barca faces the uphill task of attempting to conquer PSG at Camp Nou in order to win the group.

PSG has been enjoying their best run in the group stage competition, having finished first in each of the last two seasons. They are definitely looking to improve their run this season with a draw.

Barca lost at Parc Des Princes, and they would not want to lose twice to L. Blanc's side. Both teams have the highest passing accuracy in the completion this season (Barca - 90.1% and PSG -89.06%).

Lionel Messi became the record holder for the most goals scored in Champions League in the 5th round of the competition, while Luis Suarez finally opened his goal-scoring account for the Catalan giants in the 4-0 thumping of APOEL Nicosia.

Barca beat their derby rivals Espanyol 5-1 in the last match of La Liga, with Messi's hat-trick and goals from Pedro and Gerald Pique helping them to come from one goal down and win the match. Barcelona have now won their last seven games in three competitions, scoring a total of 23 games.

PSG held on to the top of Group F after laboring to a 3-1 win over the Dutch side, AFC Ajax in the last round. Although the French champions were able to see off their visitors, the wet and windy conditions at the stadium Parc des Princes meant that it wasn't as easy a win as the score line suggests.

Edison Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are in superb form, and they both shared the spoils in this win; with Cavani scoring twice either side of a wonderful Ibrahimovic strike. But the Dutch side did find the net through Klaasen.

The French champions didn't play to the standards expected of them in the last Ligue 1 match, and it was only the winning performance and a brilliant brace from Ibrahimovic that gave them a 2-1 win over FC Nantes.

Both teams are aiming to top the group in order to avoid a tougher fixture in the next round. PSG may be in optimal form, but they will find it difficult to keep Barca at bay to get a draw or even a win. Barcelona boasts of home advantage and they might as well take advantage of it to snatch the three points.

The last four encounters between these two sides have seen both teams finding the net, and this trend is expected to continue. The betting odds from the Everygame sportsbook have Barcelona as the bookie's favorite.
